Cultural Intelligence Quotient (CQ; Ang et al. 2007)
Description
Cultural Intelligence (CQ) is a name for a specific approach to intercultural competences, i.e., one that explicitly includes meta-cognition as part of the competence set. It is worth knowing about this approach since it has received wide-spread attention in both academic and commercial fields. There are different research groups investigating CQ, and by now two self-assessment questionnaires have been developed to measure the proposed set of competence areas. The most well-known CQ questionnaire is a 20-item questionnaire developed by S. Ang and L. van Dyne, and is usually referred to simply as CQ. It is commercially available via the Cultural Intelligence Center (https://culturalq.com/) More recently, David C. Thomas et al. (2015) developed an even shorter form, the 10-item Cultural Intelligence Assessment.
